Striking thoughts for you to ponder?

How does George Bush get re-elected in a country that claims duty, honor, and loyalty? Has bush relayed any of these characteristics.....NO

Why is my brother 6,000 miles away fighting a war that doesn't even seem viable? Here I am unable to do anything while my brother's life is put on the line everyday. I would like nothing better than to be over there with him to see it through but that isn't a possibility.

How can I complain when the soldiers are the ones suffering through this?
Well I think every friend and family member has a great reason to complain. We cant do anything but try and boost moral. Our hands are tied behind our backs and the only real voice we have is our vote which hasnt mattered really since the electoral college is the real vote. We should all write our congressmen and women and let it be known that our boys are fighting a war over money and power and yet they see neither of these products.

How can a private contractor i.e. Halliburton send people over to get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars with tax breaks while our troops are so underpaid and overworked. Heresy I tell you. What happened to equal opportunity employers. Does that law not stand up for gov. employees?

Finally I would like to wish everyone a merry fucking christmas with extra Ba-Humbug. Thats about how I've felt this year for the holidays because my brother is forced to do as he was trained. Thank God for people such as CS but I only wish it was someone else's brother doing it.

Keep up the good work and stay safe.

JC

Oh PJ, my heart breaks for you and for your family. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this matter... I know that there are a lot of people that share your feelings of complete and utter frustration.
You, your family and especially your brother remain in my prayers...

Vote, what vote? I don't even get that. Well, in the electoral college, I do, but I don't have a congressman or senator. I live in the District but that's beside the point.

I don't get it. I don't know why we're at war and I don't know how we're going to get out of it. I don't think it's fair that we're here, living life just like nothing's wrong except for the fact that your brother, among many other brothers, friends, sons, husbands, is there. And my heart stops just about every time I read the news or your brother stops posting or I read a post like this.

War sucks.
Government sucks.
Politicians suck.

How did such a good idea (government) get so far off base?

George Bush gets re-elected in a country that claims duty, honor, and loyalty because the masses are asses and take a 20-second soundbite as the gospel and vote for the 'plainspoken' (read: shitforbrains) one they feel they can relate to. Halliburton can pay their employees hundreds of thousands of dollars to go over there because we're fighting this war for them in the first place. uh, the only pre-war planning was the no-bid win to the them. suspicious much? The vice president, one of the chief war 'planners' (a misnomer since it implies a plan to begin with), is still on the Halliburton dime! unfuckingbelievable that this country is not up in arms about that. ok, I'm going to stop now because I can feel a rant of Michael Moore-esque proportions approaching and nobody wants to see that. and yeah, obviously I got the bah-humbug you wished upon us.

truly truly sorry for you and your family though. really.
