In the everchanging world of technology I am finding that it sucks. Sometimes I wonder how nice it would be to stop hearing the nonstop chatter of people on cell phones. Cell phones have ruined many things that used to be overlooked. I recently got pissed off at my cell phone and my girlfriends cell phone and heaved both of them in a fit of rage into the elk river. She seemed to find it funny at the time because of the drunken state we were in. Now without a cell phone and my 200 contacts I thought I would be fucking pissed off but as the days passed I couldn't be tracked down. I actually had some peace and quite for once. I let this go by for two weeks then I broke down and gave in to technology by purchasing a new phone. Within minutes of activation people were chiming in again annoying my tranquile state that had arose since its departure. This makes me wonder how being disconnected from society might seem to others such as my brother in Iraq. I would think at first this disconnection would be a nice change from the hustle of the city. The isolation would get old though after a month or so then it may begin to feel like prison. Shitty food, poor job details, dangerous living conditions, and not to mention disconnection from the opposite sex and alcohol. This is a very combative combination. If I were stripped of these freedoms, after becoming so fond of them, punching someone in the face wouldn't just be a daydream but a reality. So to all of you out there who wake up everyday dreading the monotaneous mundane life we go through on a regular basis drink a cold beer, sit back and relax and thank our soldiers that protect these freedoms while they lose theirs.
Good Day!

WONDERFUL post!
Welcome to blogging land.
Sorry I'm so late on the bandwagon.
PS - if you had thrown my cell phone in a river, drunk or not I would have thrown you in after it. Marry that girl, she's a keeper.
Great post, man. Thanks for watching out for me. Look out for the ladies.
Look out for the ladies?
Uh oh . . I get the feeling that our dear Chair is warning you about the likes of Beachgirl, Steph, Auburn, myself and the hundreds of other women who are queens of flirting . .
You're perfectly safe.
We don't bite.
Unless asked.
Or given permission.
I like to be referred to as the DIVA of flirting... FYI, I'm the "good girl" of the "group"
Meg- Thanks for the compliment...and yes I will keep her.
CS- Keep everything in perspective life will turn around quickly when its going tough.
Beachgirl- I am the king of flirt...with lots of southern charm!!
The days when I've accidentally left my cell phone at home or forgotten to charge it I've felt completely cut off from the world- even though I'm surrounded by people. With all this technology, it's like I've forgotten how to have a conversation that isn't either spoken over a tiny phone or typed on a blog or email. One day I'm giving it all up and moving to an isolated cabin in the woods never to see a cell phone or laptop again.
Wait! I take that back! Didn't mean it!
But you're right, it does kind of put things into perspective as far as soldiers overseas go. So a HUGE thanks to them!
Great post. Great reminder. I've been thinking about it a lot lately... Damn Chairborne Stranger for raising my awareness. And thank you.
